This morning, I met a father from Osaka Prefecture (pictured, left) who told me, “I always read your reports! The ‘Morishita Jintan 2026 Osaka Prefecture Hakunori Moguls Competition’ (PDF), which starts tomorrow, is an A-class sanctioned event, but my son (pictured, right), who competes at the B-class level, has been invited to take part.” Snow began falling quietly and steadily from around 9:30 a.m.

The “Morishita Jintan 2026 Osaka Prefecture Hakunori Moguls Competition” is once again set to take place on the skier’s left side of the Rabbit Course (pictured). Event staff who were setting up the course told me, “We’ll be doing course inspection and official training starting this afternoon, so we need to build the moguls up a bit more before then!”

Rewinding to around 8 a.m., when the Alps No. 3 High-Speed Pair started running, blue skies dominated and sunshine was pouring down. In the end, my reporting this morning fell right between the clear weather and the next incoming cold wave. The Highway Course (pictured), Kamoshika Course, Rabbit Course, Wakaguri Central Slope, and Wakaguri Forest Course were all groomed into well-packed, firm, moisture-rich snow surfaces.

The Satomi Central Slope (pictured), Satomi Ridge Course, and Satomi–Wakaguri Access Line featured moderately firm, moisture-rich groomed snow. As the day went on, the snowfall intensified and a northerly wind picked up, making it feel colder than it had first thing in the morning. A winter pressure pattern is forecast for the weekend, with a solid round of snowfall expected.
