Course restrictions are currently in place on the Snow Diving Course and DISCOVERY SPORT Course due to upcoming events: the “Able Hakuba Goryu Student Alpine Ski Championships” on 2/12 (Thu.) and 2/13 (Fri.), followed by the “Able Hakuba Goryu presents Ski Technical Contest” on 2/14 (Sat.). On the Powder Snow Course (pictured), which was groomed with a firm moist snow base, competitors were already out taking warm-up laps first thing in the morning.

After a low pressure system along the southern coast moved away from Honshu and into the Pacific yesterday, the weather pattern shifted back to a classic winter setup, bringing colder temperatures to the area again. The trees across the mid to upper slopes were coated in frost, and sparkled beautifully whenever the morning sun broke through the clouds. As guests stepped off the Goryu Telecabin, excited voices could be heard commenting how beautiful it looked.
[Panorama Course]

The Grand Prix Course (pictured) and Panorama Course were both groomed into moderately firm powder snow bases, making it easy to engage the edges and link smooth, confident turns. On the ungroomed Technical Course and the area along the Alps 3rd Pair line, 10 to 15 cm of soft, fluffy new snow had settled over a gently undulating base.

The Dynamic and Woody Courses were groomed into well-set powder snow surfaces, while the Toomi Slope offered groomed moist snow with a powder-like feel. The Soft Cream and Maryland Courses featured firm, groomed moist snow and were easy to ski. Conditions were good from top to bottom, but with both the scenery and snow quality shining, Alps Daira was the place to lap today.
