The Kurohime Snowboarding School hosted the “26–27 New Model OGASAKA SNOWBOARDS Weekday Demo Day” in front of BC Plaza (free to join; ID required) starting at 8:30 a.m. today, 3/4 (Wed.). Riders could try 34 OGASAKA and 14 SCOOTER boards, and they could swap boards as many times as they liked (about 30 minutes per board) during the event period. Light snowfall and thin fog stuck around, as everyone tested boards on the groomed, softened corn snow.

A staff member told me, “A lot of people are trying OGASAKA’s FC series freestyle carving boards, and the CT series as well, which is also a very popular lineup.” Because it was a quiet weekday, riders had the space and time to test boards carefully.

Kurohime Family Park felt almost like a private slope, and clean groomed lanes spread out across the area. A mother visiting from Niigata told me, “We came to Kurohime with the kids (pictured) for the first time last year, and this is our second visit. Even if you don’t ski or snowboard, you can ride the lift and go sledding, which is great. We’re having a lot of fun.”

I met a family from Chikuma City (pictured) who told me, “My son (pictured, right) just made his snowboarding debut. He started today, and is only on his third run. We like Kurohime because it’s easy to come here with kids.” The slope in front of Cosmo Plaza has a moving walkway and today featured a well groomed surface of softened corn snow. The snow felt forgiving when taking a fall, so it made for a very beginner-friendly setup.
