The clouds that hung over the area early this morning gradually cleared, and before long the sky opened up enough to reveal the Northern Alps. The lower half of the Satomi Ridge Course (pictured) is now closed, so from partway down you need to take the Satomi–Wakaguri Access Line and ski either to the No. 9 Pair base or down via the Wakaguri Forest Course. By around 11 a.m., the surface had softened into groomed corn snow.

The Highway Course (pictured) now has a small dirt-stained patch right at the entrance of the run. First thing this morning, Highway was groomed with a moderately firm corn snow base. The Wakaguri Central Slope, the Kamoshika Course, and the Hakunori Family Course offered similar conditions and were all easy and enjoyable to ski.

On the south side of the No. 8 Pair on the Satomi Central Slope (pictured), grass was showing in a few spots, but there was still plenty of width to avoid it and ski through without trouble. On the north side of the same lift, however, the area of exposed dirt had started to spread. The route in the mid to lower section that connects with the Cortina Warabidaira Slope is no longer groomed, so you now have two choices: either cross it at your own risk while avoiding dirt and brush, or walk across the base area where there is no exposed dirt or brush.

Mechanical inspections were carried out today on the No. 9 Pair and the No. 10 Pair (pictured). A staff member at the No. 9 Pair told me, “The inspection finished sooner than expected, so we started running again around 10 a.m.” The No. 10 Pair, meanwhile, remained closed all day and will resume operations tomorrow, 3/10 (Tue.).
