Alps-Daira was covered in rime ice, and felt like a different world this morning. I’m not sure what made it line up so perfectly, but the frost-covered trees looked as good as they have all season—enough to say they may have been the most beautiful so far. I found myself stopping again and again to get close and take photos. The air was crisp, and light northerly gusts occasionally carried dry snow through the otherworldly scene.

The Panorama Course was freshly groomed with moderately firm spring granular snow, while the Grand Prix Course (pictured) was more firmly set and running fast. Both surfaces held an edge well and supported clean, confident turns. Along the ungroomed areas beside the Alps No. 3 Pair and on the Technical Course (pictured, far right), firm bumps and undulations had formed, with about 1 cm of dry new snow on top.

Cloud cover kept the surface from softening, and the slopes held their quality for much of the day. A man I spoke with said, “I always read your reports. It’s colder than I expected, and the snow is running really nicely.” The Dynamic Course was groomed with firmer spring granular snow, while the Woody Course was well-packed and consistent.

The Toomi Slope, Powder Snow Course, and Soft Cream Course all featured groomed granular spring snow that had softened slightly. (※Note: Thin snow coverage remained in spots on both the Soft Cream and Powder Snow Courses.) The contrast between the snowless base area and the plentiful base up top was striking. Meanwhile, Restaurants Hull and Shyandool are currently offering a “Spring Restaurant Discount.”
