Today, I was excited to share with you photos of nothing but clean, white slopes. The low-pressure system that brought moist snow to the upper mountain yesterday has moved out into the Pacific, and calm, sunny weather has returned. At Alps Daira this morning, the air felt crisp, and fresh grooming laid over the new snow created a beautiful corduroy surface that looked like midwinter conditions (pictured).

The Panorama Course (pictured) was freshly groomed and held firm spring granular snow. The surface supported strong edge grip and smooth, controlled turns. A man I spoke with said, “It cooled down a bit this morning, so I came to ski the north-facing Panorama Course. The firm surface feels excellent.”

The east-facing Grand Prix Course (pictured) had already loosened into soft, granular snow from the start of the day, though skis still ran well, and it was easy to carry speed. Note that the skier’s right side of both the Grand Prix and Technical Courses will be closed from 3/28 (Sat.) to 3/29 (Sun.) for a certification test event.

On the lower section along the Alps No. 3 Pair, the snow surface had softened and formed into moderate-sized bumps, while the Dynamic Course was freshly groomed with loose granular snow. The Woody Course started off with slightly softened granular snow on the north-facing upper section, with the soft layer deepening farther down, and by the time it reached the Toomi Slope, the surface had transitioned into coarse, fully loosened granular snow.
