Iwatake REPORT

2025.07.24Hakuba Iwatake / Sunny

Following yesterday’s evening rain shower, parts of the Iwatake summit area were still damp this morning. The shaded area of HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR—filled with the sweet aroma of freshly baked cookies—felt cooler and more comfortable than usual. In summer, intense sunshine and heat in the morning often leads to afternoon or evening showers, and when they do occur, they tend to leave the area even cooler and more pleasant afterward.

The “Hakuba Giant Swing” is one of the largest such swings in all of Japan, and it continues to grow in popularity each month. There I spoke with a family from Aichi (pictured), who shared, “It’s our first time visiting Iwatake. Yesterday, we had fun at Hakuba Tsugaike WOW! on attractions like Amidas, Tobidas, and Kogidas. Today, our three kids are trying out the Hakuba Giant Swing.” Meanwhile, the most popular activity, the Yoo-hoo! Swing, saw tickets for the slots all the way up to 12:00 p.m. sell out before 11:00 a.m..

If you head west from Hakuba Hitotoki-no-mori, past the row of five “table houses”, you’ll find a small, quiet terrace perfect for a peaceful moment. I met a couple from Kanagawa Prefecture (pictured) there, who shared, “We visited Oide Park yesterday. Today, after enjoying Iwatake, we’re heading to try shower climbing with the Otari Outdoor Club.”

Sitting on one of the five decks spread across the grassy South Slope, I was soothed by the shade created by the tarp and the gentle southern breeze that occasionally blew by. When you want to be active, you can play to your heart’s content under the blue sky; when you want to rest, you can find quiet comfort in the cool shade… Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort offers the perfect environment to enjoy summer with fun and comfort
