This morning, a line was forming for the extremely popular Yoo-Hoo! Swing (pictured) even before it opened. To experience the swing, visitors must first purchase a time-slot ticket (JPY1,000 for two people) at the Guide Center near the gondola summit station. If you’re swinging solo, you still need to buy the two-person ticket first, but you’ll later receive a JPY500 refund on-site.

The teepee tents (pictured), located in the comfortable shade of the beech forest, are available to use for free. Wi-Fi is also available in the area, making it a convenient spot for using smartphones or laptops. However, since the tables that were available until last year have been removed, those looking to work remotely may find the eat-in areas at Skyark and THE CITY BAKERY more suitable for a workation.

Since we’re in the middle of the summer holiday season, I observed the popular Buggy Cruise (approx. 15 minutes; Adults JPY2,000, Children aged 4 through elementary school JPY1,000, pets free) running often throughout the day. The main route typically runs from in front of the Guide Center → Chuo Kosoku Lift landing → summit → midsection of the VIEW B course → back to the Guide Center (*subject to change based on conditions). I spoke with a man visiting from Kanagawa Prefecture (pictured, left) who said, “This is my first time at Iwatake,” while his grandchild (center) added, “The Yoo-Hoo! Swing (not just the Buggy Cruise) was fun too!”

Dogs are more than welcome at Iwatake, and not only can they ride the gondola and the 5Sen Lift with you, but they’re also allowed in many areas throughout the resort—such as HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR, the dog run, Nezuko Forest, Skyark, the scenic picnic lounge, and Hakuba Hitotoki-no-Mori. This morning, I was impressed to see a group of five well-behaved dogs lining up perfectly for a commemorative photo (pictured).
