During the busy mid-August Obon holiday, Iwatake’s wide variety of excellent spaces to relax and unwind really shine, and today we’d like to introduce some of those spots. Just past Hakuba Hitotoki-no-mori (pictured), you’ll find five “Table Houses” (pictured) in addition to the two on the Glacier Deck. Meanwhile, in the grassy lawn area, the three CHUMS table-and-chair sets sit shaded under tarps, offering a comfortable spot to take a break.

If you’re looking for an air-conditioned indoor retreat, head to Skyark (pictured, pet-friendly area located behind). Like the other spots, it can be used as a simple rest space, but you can also indulge in food and drinks from HAKUBA DELI and Soup Stock Tokyo. With seating for 312 people and high ceilings, the atmosphere feels far less crowded than you might expect once you sit down.

For a relaxing break with views of the valley below under the summer sky, head to CHAVATY HAKUBA. If you’d rather gaze out at the Northern Alps, HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR is the place to be. As of 10:30 a.m. this morning, there was a line at the entrance of CHAVATY HAKUBA for ordering, but plenty of terrace seating was still available (pictured). Next door, the Giant Swing was also drawing a crowd, with many people waiting their turn.

If you’re looking for shade to relax in outdoors, there are plenty of options including: the SKYARK DECK CAFE, several teepee tents, the deck with a tarp at the top of the South Slope, the Glacier Deck, and the tarp located on the north side of the HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR deck (pictured). THE CITY BAKERY’s eat-in space is another great choice with a fine view, though seating is limited. By mid-morning today, the line of people waiting to take photos in the center of the terrace had grown quickly, stretching all the way to the southern end of the Glacier Deck just behind.
