Iwatake REPORT

2026.04.23Hakuba Iwatake / Overcast & Showers

Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort kicked off its summer season at 8:30 a.m. on 4/23 (Thu.). Even with rain in the forecast, visitors began arriving at HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR (pictured) shortly after opening. A new, free photo service provided by staff on the terrace’s protruding deck area was also available starting on this first day of the summer season (*).

All of Iwatake’s cafés, restaurants, and retail shops, including CHAVATY HAKUBA (pictured), opened for the season as well. A staff member at CHAVATY HAKUBA (pictured) told me, “We’ve started offering our spring-limited blueberry scone (third photo) and blueberry craft cola. Please come give them a try.”

THE CITY BAKERY also launched a spring-limited item, the “Osaka Mixed Juice,” made with diced yellow peach, pineapple, banana, apple juice, and milk. Available activities now include the Yoo-Hoo! Swing, buggy cruises, mountain carts, and the Hakuba Giant Swing, along with the start of guided tours through Nezuko no Mori (※horseback riding begins 4/25; Iwatake MTB PARK and MTB rentals begin 4/29).

I spoke with a couple from Fukushima (pictured) who told me, “After thinking about where to go, we decided on a day trip to Iwatake. We’re planning to stop at a hot spring on the way home.” The environmental event “Gelande Clean Act,” scheduled for 4/25 (Sat.), will involve trash collection on the slopes, and participants will receive a summer invitation ticket (※free participation, free round-trip gondola ride, limited to the first 50 participants). During Golden Week, a “Kids VR Experience Event” (※free, 4/29 to 5/6) and “Scenic Hands-Free Relaxation Yoga” (※free, 5/2 to 5) are also planned.
