Only one week remains in the summer operation period for Hakuba Iwatake, which also marks the end of the summer season in the HAKUBA VALLEY. The special IWATAKE AUTUMN NIGHT 2025 event was held on 11/8 (Sat.), allowing guests to stay until 7:00 p.m. with only the regular admission fee (Adults JPY2,900 / Elementary School Students JPY1,600). Visitors arriving after 4:00 p.m. received a special discount price of JPY500. To coincide with the event, the Yoo-hoo! Swing (pictured), THE CITY BAKERY, and SKYARK DECK CAFE all extended their operating hours.

As darkness began to fall around 5:00 p.m., the Illumination & Music event began. A local family from Hakuba Village (pictured) told me, “We always follow your reports. We’ve wanted to experience this yearly event for some time now, and we decided to make it happen tonight.” At the same time, the Skyark Deck offered warm treats including roasted marshmallows, Itoigawa tsumire-jiru (fish soup), and freshly steamed sweet potatoes.

The brand-new Night Bubble Performance (pictured, by AWABITO) drew a large crowd, and was especially popular with families with small children. It was a magical sight different from anything I’ve seen before, and each time streams of bubbles floated up into the night sky, the delighted shouts and laughter of children trying to catch them echoed across the venue.

At 6:00 p.m., singer Rei Yamada’s mini live music performance (pictured) filled the quiet mountaintop with her beautiful voice. Afterward, the fireworks marking the finale lit up the night sky above the South Slope, bringing the event to a spectacular close. The new gondola, with its larger new windows, offering sweeping views of Hakuba Village’s night lights on the way down, provided a thrilling and memorable end to a magical evening on the mountain.
