A “Bottle Holder & Charm Workshop” (pictured, right foreground) is taking place at Iwatake on 8/8 (Sat.) and 8/9 (Sun.). Participants are able to create their own bottle holders or charms by combining a selection of colorful pre-prepared parts. Once they choose their materials, they move to the tables (pictured, right background) to begin assembling them, with staff on hand to explain each step.

I met a family from Kyoto Prefecture (pictured) who were making a “HAKUBA Wood Craft” (¥1,500). They told me, “This is our first visit to Iwatake. Once we finish this, we’re going to ride the buggy and try the swing.” They worked together to complete the craft, with the children handling the painting while their father took care of the assembly. The workshop will be held again from 8/11 (Tue.) to 8/16 (Sun.).

At the Hakuba DELI, located inside Skyark, the new Nagano Summer Strawberry & Blueberry Parfait (pictured, ¥1,800) has been available since 8/2 (Sun.). Shiseido Parlour’s signature vanilla and strawberry ice creams pair beautifully with the sweet-tart flavor of Summer Lyrical strawberries, creating a light and refreshing dessert. At 10:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on 8/9 (Sun.), bubble artist Shabondama Kinaco gave a “Bubble Performance” (pictured). With every sweep of her wand, clouds of bubbles floated into the air, delighting the children, while parents captured the scene in photos and videos that should serve as a special memory of their trip.
