Kashimayari REPORT

2026.03.2040 cm / Partly Cloudy

Only three days, including today, remain in the Kashimayari season. This morning, I spoke with a family from Matsumoto City (pictured) who told me, “We’ve seen Snownavi before. We both have season passes here. The lower section of 1-A is starting to thin out, but the upper and middle sections are still skiing well.” On Course 1-A, which was groomed with moderately firm granular snow, the remaining snow on the lower section had been pushed into a single piste-width lane.

On Course 5-A, the groomed granular surface was nicely set, and I could link turns exactly as I wanted. There were a few thin spots near the bottom, but they didn’t affect skiing. The ungroomed Course 5-B (pictured) had well-formed, moderately firm medium to large moguls.

This is a bit of an unusual shot, but I ran into an instructor from the Kashimayari Ski & Snowboard School (pictured, left) who said, “I always use Snownavi. We had a lot of overseas guests taking lessons this season, so translation apps really came in handy.” A mother from Tokyo (shadow visible lower right) added, “My son (pictured right) is taking lessons today and tomorrow. My husband and I don’t ski, so we’ll be watching from the sidelines.”

A slight return of colder air coated the trees along the upper part of 5-A in rime ice. On the Kurosawa Slope (pictured), the groomed granular surface started out nicely set but, like the other runs, loosened into soft granular snow within about an hour. This marks the final report of the season at Kashimayari. Thank you for following our coverage, and we hope to see you again out on the slopes next season.
