The Hakuba Daisekkei Route was a popular choice again this summer, but closed until further notice on 8/31 (Mon.) since safe passage across the snowfield could no longer be guaranteed. The shortest alternative route to Mt. Hakuba (Shirouma) is the Tsugaike Route, which starts at the Tsugaike Nature Park Visitor Center and climbs via Hakuba Oike. An announcement on whether the Hakuba Daisekkei Route can reopen later this season is expected before Silver Week.
