On 8/10 (Mon.), the brand-new “Buggy Cruise” activity began operating at Hakunori! I spoke with a family from Nara Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “It’s our first time visiting Hakunori. Riding the buggy was a great way to experience the area’s natural beauty, and made for a wonderful memory.” Each buggy seats six people, including one staff member who drives the vehicle. (*Dogs are also welcome to ride.)

The buggies depart twice per hour, on the hour and at half past, from next to the Alps No. 5 High-Speed Lift boarding area and climb up to the top of the Alps No. 4 Pair Lift on the Wakaguri Central Slope, before looping around the south side of the lift and descending (pictured). On board, the staff shared stories and information about the ski resort in winter and the surrounding scenery.

Afterwards, the ride climbs to a spectacular viewpoint just beyond the Alps No. 1 Pair Lift exit on the Hakunori Family Course (pictured), then turns around and returns to the Alps No. 5 High-Speed Lift boarding area. It’s about a 20-minute ride in total, letting you feel the unique bumps and sways of off-road terrain. From 8/18 (Mon.), to 8/31 (Sun.), the buggies will be available for private bookings only (*Reservations required by 5 p.m. the day before, two-hour rental).

The “Slushark” we introduced in our previous report is also suitable for children. For kids under 140 cm tall, a staff member rides along and handles the driving to ensure safety (pictured, available until 8/24). I met a family from Aichi Prefecture who shared, “This was our first time on a ride where you stand to drive. It was so much fun, and our son (pictured)—who was too scared to try the Tree Adventure—was able to enjoy it too.”
