As temperatures continue to fall, the band of fall color is steadily moving down the mountain, and the areas around the SAWA, SONEZAWA, and HIKAGE (pictured) courses are now beginning to turn brilliant colors. Furthermore, the gondola’s large windows offer excellent views of the foliage while heading up, or down. Clear skies continued today following yesterday’s beautiful weather, with more sunshine forecast for the weekend ahead.

The Yoo-Hoo! Swing was busy from the moment it opened at 9 a.m., drawing visitors of all ages. Enjoying the sensation of swinging straight out toward the fall-colored Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range, riders could be heard shouting things like, “This feels amazing!” and “Wow, this is so much fun!” while the familiar theme song played continuously around the area.

Looking up, I suddenly spotted none other than Mr. Cockburn, owner and brewer at Hakuba Brewing Company, which produces craft beer using snowmelt water from the Hakuba area. “Good morning! How are you? What a beautiful morning!” he called out. Incidentally, cans of beer from Hakuba Brewing Company are available at HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR.

The Guided Buggy Cruise (pictured) is currently running round trips from the summit area via the top of the Central High-Speed Lift to the upper section of HIKAGE. Along the way, guests can enjoy a thrilling ride surrounded by fall colors from maples, okamenoki, marubamansaku, and other varieties of trees. During a photo stop, two visitors from Kanagawa Prefecture told me, “The Northern Alps were spectacular, the fall colors were beautiful, and we had a great time!”
