Happo-one REPORT

2023.12.09115cm / Sunny

Today I spoke with a father from Aichi Prefecture (pictured, right), who told me, “I love your site. I came out with my son (pictured, center) and his friend (pictured, left) for our first day on the slopes this winter. We’re planning to come to Happo almost every week for the rest of the season!” This morning, the Panorama Course had a moderately firm, groomed power snow surface that made that perfect powder squeak when you stepped on it.

It turned out to be a clear, sunny morning with bright blue skies. Like yesterday there was no wind to speak of, but with warmer temperatures, it felt even more comfortable. I caught up with a regular visitor to Happo (pictured, right), who always has interesting this to share, and after greeting me, continued, “The number of visitors has increased since last week, and the conditions and atmosphere are slowly becoming a lot more Happo-like!”

The southern portion of the Usagidaira Slope (pictured) had a groomed powder snow surface that was slightly softer than the Panorama Course. My edges held well, and my skis slid smoothly across the surface. The ungroomed steep slope alongside the Alpen Quad had a lot of tracks, but they were shallow and the base was soft, so it was easier to ski than it looked.

The snow on the groomed run along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured) was pleasantly soft and powdery. With the sunny weather on a weekend, there were a lot of families and other visitors who were kind enough to greet me. In other news, with Kurobishi opening yesterday, Happo’s officially announced base was 120cm, revised to 115 cm today, which is the most of any resort in the country. (※ Daisetsuzan’s Kurodake was announced as 120cm, but is closed today.)
