Sanosaka REPORT

2024.01.0960cm / Sunny

Conditions at Hakuba Sanosaka Resort improved dramatically due to the heavy snowfall over this last three-day weekend in January! On this morning with clear skies and no wind, I spoke with a skier from Osaka (pictured), who told me, “I love your site. Two years ago I was seriously injured when I collided with a person while skiing. I’m still kind of afraid of crowded conditions, so I came to Sanosaka for rehabilitation.”

The Carving Slope (pictured), with its moderately soft, groomed powder snow surface, had the type of conditions that made me feel as if I had suddenly become a much better skier! I ran into Mizuki Takeuchi (pictured), representing the snowboarding team Kagayaking, who told me he was a fan of Snownavi and then showed me some of his impressive turns.

Another skier from Osaka (pictured) called out to me saying they often check our reports, adding, “I enjoyed the fresh powder at Goryu47 yesterday with the advance discount lift ticket I bought through Snownavi. Today is my first visit to Sanosaka. I love the groomed slopes in the middle of the mountain, they feel great. I’m lucky that I came here at the right time and can enjoy both fresh powder and great groomed snow.” The Lake Down Course (pictured) also had a nice and soft, easy-to-ski grroomed powder snow surface.

AZ Pro Snowboarding School President Aizawa-san (pictured, left) and Principal Nakahara-san (pictured, right) spoke with me, saying, “We love your site. We came to Sanosaka to check out the slope conditions. The snow is a little soft but easy to ski.” Paradise (pictured) and Paradise Downhill were also featured moderately soft groomed powder snow. New Paradise was covered with soft tracks and surface bumps. (*No exposed brush was visible on any of the courses!)
