Heavy snow has continued falling at the ski resort since yesterday. The upper portion of the mountain was experiencing blizzard conditions, so the lifts above the Alpen Quad and Skyline 2 Pair were out of service. On the steep, ungroomed Olympic Course II (pictured), the surface was a bit wind battered, but the 30 to 40 cm of fresh powder offered great flotation and made for fun runs with only the occasional bottoming out.

Sakka Wave, the lower portion of the Kokusai Slope (pictured), and the Sakka Slope had moderately firm, groomed powder snow surfaces with around 2 to 3 cm of new snow that was good for skiing at speed. Even on the lower slopes, occasional strong gusts of winds whipped up the freshly fallen snow. It goes without saying that the recent heavy snows have padded the base from top to bottom, and the lower slopes are well covered with no areas of thin snowor exposed bushes.

There was about 10 cm of light, fresh snow on the Panorama Course, which was groomed with a moderately packed powder snow surface. The Central Course had between 30 and 40 cm of fluffy, new snow covering a moderately firm, uneven base. Skiing down to the pleasantly soft, groomed Shirakaba Slope (pictured), I ran into a bit of fog, but it was mild enough to not interfere with my skiing. snow, there was just a touch of fog, but it did not interfere with the skiing.
