The first day of the three-day weekend was blessed with beautiful sunny weather, and HAPPO PARKS, which underwent a three-day rebuild from 2/7 (Wed.) to 2/9 (Fri.), reopened at 9:00 this morning! I spoke with a digger who told me, “The park turned out nice. We have a wide variety of lines appropriate for everyone from beginners to advanced riders alike, so please come and check it out.”

The park elements include a newly built mini-banked slalom area along the Kitaone 3 Pair, two round banks (first photo), a 6-meter multi kicker, an 8-meter kicker, a table, a multi, a volcano (pictured, right), and a hip. Each item was well-built, and the firm, groomed wet snow was in good condition.

The top half of the groomed Riesen Slalom Course (pictured) had a nice firm powder snow surface, while the Usuba Slope at the end of the run had a firm wet snow base. The surface had a fantastic flat finish, and I was able to ski at a good speed from top to bottom. I wasn’t the only one moving quickly, and the groomed slope was full of tracks in no time.

The area along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured), and the center of the Skyline Course had moderately firm, groomed powder snow surfaces that my edges held to well. The ungroomed areas along the Alpen Quad, the Kurobishi 3 Pair (pictured), an on the Skyline Course had well-packed powder snow tracks and moguls.
