Happo-one REPORT

2022.12.17110cm / Partly Cloudy

The Skyline Course opened up today, following yesterday’s opening of the Usagidaira Slope and Kurobishi Slope. In total, you can now ski four different slopes at Happo, including the Panorama Course, which opened on 12/9 (Fri.). I had a quick conversation with four snowboarders from Nara Prefecture (pictured) who told me they were fans of the Snownavi site and wished me good luck for another great season.

The well-groomed Usagidaira (pictured), Kurobishi and Panorama areas were in excellent condition with moderately-firm powder snow surfaces. It seemed to have snowed a little overnight as well, with about 2cm of fresh snow topping things off in the ungroomed sections. It was a perfect Saturday morning on the slopes with no wind and some clouds but still plenty of blue skies visible.

Although the number of people gradually increased as the morning went on, it didn’t ever feel crowded on the wide-open slopes during my time on the mountain. I caught up with two people from Toyama Prefecture wo told me, “We love your site! We came to Happo because the resorts in Toyama haven’t opened yet. The snow quality is great. We’re going to ski until our legs give out.”
[Kurobishi Slope]

The Skyline Course opened up earlier than scheduled, and as soon as the restrictions were lifted, visitors dropped in one after another, heading particularly for the ungroomed areas. Like the Kurobishi Slope, the groomed areas had a moderately-packed powder surface that was great for skiing. I did notice some exposed bushes in a few spots from the middle to the end of the course, but they did not have any affect on the skiing.
