All courses are still open at Hakuba47 Winter Sports Park! And, thanks to artificial snowmaking that began during the peak season on the lower slopes, there’s still plenty of snow coverage all the way to the bottom—despite the resort’s impressive 790m vertical drop. It was a chilly start to the morning due to radiative cooling, and with thin clouds across the sky, the temperature rose only gradually.

My skis glided smoothly on the firm, groomed granular snow surface of the upper section of Route 1 (pictured). The lower section of Route 1 featured a somewhat soft, bumpy surface on the first half, with moderately soft, groomed granular snow toward the end. In the morning, I noticed many skiers making laps via Line-C → upper Route 1 → Route 6.

Route 5, Route 6 (pictured), and the lower section of Route 8 all had firmly-packed, groomed granular snow bases. Later on, I ran into a digger from 47PARKS on Route 4, who told me, “I always check your reports! Everything was groomed perfectly again today. The slopes are on the firmer side and the snow runs fast, so please have fun—but ride with care!”

The ungroomed Route 2 was marked with tracks left over from yesterday that had hardened as-is, making it tough to turn. Route 3 was fully covered with large moguls. Meanwhile, the south-facing slopes of Happo-one (pictured, background), which are visible from the north-facing 47 side, are starting to show a lot more exposed ground—once again highlighting the big difference between north- and south-facing aspects.
