At Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort, six lifts, including the Nagasaka Gondola, will be operating during Golden Week right up until the last day on 5/6 (Tue., holiday), serving four slopes—Yamabiko, Kokenashii, Uenotaira, and Paradise. This morning, the Uenotaira Slope (pictured) had a soft, groomed granular snow surface with some traces of dirt. With a snow depth of 130cm, almost the same as this same time last season, there is still plenty of snow to enjoy a safe and smooth ride.

In contrast to the relatively empty Uenotaira Slope, the Yamabiko Slope was busy right from the start of the day. My edges sunk deep into the soft granular snow on the groomed D Course (pictured). With rays of sunlight occasionally breaking through the clouds, I observed a lot skiers using the Yamabiko 4 lift (1,097m) to loop the A Course or the D→C Course.

The Yamabiko Slope’s B Course was relatively quiet (pictured). The smooth, soft, groomed granular snow surface was perfect for carving. Inside the special self-responsibility area, I spotted snowboarders carving through a series of deep, continuous banked turns, reminiscent of a banked slalom course.

The Haruyama Snow Park is now open in the middle of the Yamabiko C Course. Today’s elements included a tabletop, a middle kicker (pictured), another tabletop, and a left-side hip. Incidentally, this will be the final report for this season for Nozaw Onsen. Thank you so much for following along, and we look forward to seeing you again next season!
