Amid the stunning contrast of autumn colors and fresh snow, I was reminded once again of the natural beauty of Mt. Madarao (1,382m), a standalone peak that defines the resort’s landscape. “It snowed from yesterday through this morning, marking the first snowfall of the season,” said a staff member at Madarao Kogen Ski Resort. I also exchanged greetings with a couple walking their dog (pictured), who said, “It looks like there’s some decent accumulation.” On the Paradise slope (pictured, foreground), a light layer of snow in the sunlight had begun to melt.
