Happy New Year! I hope 2026 turns out to be a great year for everyone. Since the last report, snow has continued to fall across the upper areas of the resort, with about 35cm on 12/30 (Tue.), around 25cm on 12/31 (Wed.), roughly 20cm on 1/1 (Thu.), and another 10cm falling today, 1/2 (Fri.). The base depth at Nakiyama remains a modest 35cm, but at Kurobishi it has already reached 200cm.

The Grat Quad began operating for hiking and sightseeing on 12/27 (Sat.), and the Riesen Grat Course opened to skiers on New Year’s Day. The groomed sections of the run had a moderately firm powder surface with about 5cm of light new snow on top. Farther down, on the skier’s left side (pictured, background), around 10cm of new snow covered the well-set natural rollers.

Three guests riding the Kurobishi Quad (pictured) called out to me, saying, “We always follow your reports! Happy New Year, Snownavi!” I’d also like to thank everyone else who greeted me with so many New Year wishes and positive comments. Along the Kurobishi Quad, a moderately firm, groomed powder surface topped with 3 to 5cm of light new snow made it easy to link comfortable, flowing turns.
[Kurobishi Slope]
The south-side route at Usagidaira, the Panorama Course, and the upper to mid sections of the Riesen Slalom Course (pictured) all had well-set, groomed powder bases with 2 to 3cm of light new snow on top. In contrast, the lower section of Riesen—the Usuba Slope—featured a well-compacted, groomed wet-snow surface. On the Shirakaba Slope, about 3cm of new snow sat on firm rollers, and bushes were still visible in places.
