For the “Final Week” two lifts—the Kumado No. 1 Quad and the Kumado No. 4 Pair—will operate from 3/23 (Mon.) through 3/29 (Sun.), followed by single-lift operation of the Kumado No. 1 Quad on 3/30 (Mon.) and 3/31 (Tue.). This morning brought calm, warm weather under thin cloud cover. Visitor traffic was slow to build, and until around 10 a.m., the entire resort felt almost like a private mountain.
[Utopia A Course]
Utopia A (pictured), Utopia B, the Family Slope, and the Karamatsu Course all featured lightly softened, groomed granular snow. Some surface dirt was noticeable, but the snow still ran well and allowed smooth, consistent turns. In the quiet mountain setting, the only sound was the rhythm of my own skiing (a great feeling).

I met an instructor from the Myoko Mountain Snowboard School (pictured) who told me, “We’re open through 3/31 (Tue.). This time of year is great for learning because the snow is soft and more forgiving when you fall. We’d love to have anyone who follows Snownavi come join us.” The Akakura Ski School will operate through 3/29 (Sun.) (private lessons only through 3/31), while the Yodel Ski School remains open through 3/31 (Tue.).
[Family Slope]
The official base depth stands at 200 cm, and there were no areas on any of the five open courses where snow coverage was a concern. The Panorama Course, the resort’s main run, also offered softened, groomed granular snow. With wide lanes and clean corduroy from edge to edge, it was perfect for opening things up and skiing freely.
