It was a good snow year across the Myoko and North Shinshu areas this season, at least relative to a typical year. Today I met a skier from Yamanashi Prefecture (pictured) who told me, “I always read Snownavi! I heard Akakura Onsen is a great ski resort, so this is my first time here. I’m planning to ski hard all day and refresh the mind and body.” By the way, the resort has extended its season by two days, with the final day now set for 3/31 (Tue.).

From 3/23 (Mon.) through 3/29 (Sun.), two lifts—the Kumado No. 1 Quad and the Kumado No. 4 Pair—will operate, serving the Panorama (pictured), Family, Karamatsu, and Utopia A and B courses. On the final two days of the season, 3/30 (Mon.) and 3/31 (Tue.), only the Kumado No. 1 Quad will run, with skiing limited to the Panorama, Family, and Karamatsu courses (※subject to snow conditions).

The Panorama Course, Sekimi Slope, Downhill Central Course (pictured), and Slalom Course all featured softened groomed granular snow. Calm, sunny skies and light visitor traffic made for excellent conditions, and I was able to link turns just as I wanted on the open slopes. Snow coverage remained solid across all runs, with no exposed dirt or bushes in sight.

The Silver Course (pictured) offered the same softened groomed granular conditions as the Panorama Course and skied smoothly. Temperatures continued to rise through the day, and by midday it felt warm enough to want to take off my jacket while skiing.
