The snow park on the Weber Course at Shibutoge has been open since 4/1 (Wed.). Thanks to its location at Yokoteyama–Shibutoge Ski Area, the highest-elevation ski area in Japan, it features large snow-built elements even in mid-April, including a backside hip (pictured) and kickers over 10 meters.

The rain from yesterday moved out of the area, and strong northerly winds pushed clouds across the slopes throughout the morning. The Gemute Course was groomed with granular snow that had already loosened into a soft, loose surface from the start of the day. A snowboarder (pictured) who came riding down with good speed told me, “I tensed up when I thought you were taking a photo, haha.”

The Weber Course (pictured), along with the King Course, the 1st Slope, and the 2nd Slope at Yokoteyama, all had groomed granular snow that had loosened into soft, loose surfaces, and the snow conditions slowed things down a bit. In other news, the “YOKOTEYAMA CUP 2026” will take place on the Kaiwa Slope on 4/18 (Sat.) and 4/19 (Sun.).

Route 292 (the Shiga Kusatsu Kogen Route) had no snow remaining on the road surface ahead of its reopening at 10:00 a.m. on 4/22 (Wed.). Operations of the Skylator and Sky Lift begin on 4/23 (Thu.), and starting on 4/25 (Sat.), the Shibutoge 1st Romance lift will join early morning operations starting at 6:00 a.m.
