Riding the SPECIALIZED E-HYBRIDE BIKE makde pedaling feel almost effortless, so we were able to cover a much wider area than expected. We followed the road south along the Himekawa River, and at one point, Hinano Oshima stopped at the Warabidaira Bridge (pictured), and watched some people rafting on the river below. “The water is so clear,” she said. “It looks super refreshing!”

Next, we headed to a hidden gem—a suspension bridge near Hakuba Green Sports Park (pictured). The breeze passing through was especially cool and refreshing, and the sound of the flowing river added to the sense of relief from the summer heat, making it easy to forget we were still down in the valley. We continued riding south and took our second break at Sunsun Park Hakuba.

Along the road heading west from Sunsun Park Hakuba, beautiful hydrangeas were in full bloom. “The saddles on SPECIALIZED bikes don’t make your backside sore—they’re really comfortable even over long distances,” was the comment from Tadahiko Oshima (pictured, right). I was also surprised by how effortless it was to climb the hills along the way—there was virtually no strain on my quads at all.

We covered a roughly 20-kilometer route in about an hour and a half—without feeling tired at all. “That was so much fun! This makes cycling feel really approachable,” commented Hinano Oshima with a big smile. One of the staff members at RHYTHM MTB (pictured) also told us, “Even if you’re not renting from us—if you have any trouble with your own bike, we can help with maintenance, so feel free to stop by anytime.”
