Goryu47 REPORT

2023.12.1875cm / Snowy

The day started off with two open runs; Panorama and the upper Portion of Route 8. Dry snow was falling with strong intermittent winds coming from the northwest, while the sun was trying to break through in the eastern sky. A member of the ski patrol informed me, “The Grand Prix course will open as soon as we get it ready, but because we removed all of the poles and other markers the day before yesterday, it will take a decent bit of time to check the course.”

The Panorama Course (pictured) had a moderately firm groomed surface made with a mix of wet and power snow that was ideal for turns. There were patches of light, fresh snow in places across the groomed surface. I did notice a few bushes at the intersection of the Panorama Course and the Alps 1st Pair (pictured), but the area was small and didn’t interfere with skiing.

I spoke with a couple from Kanagawa Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “We love your site! Yesterday we enjoyed the fresh falling snow, and today we’re happy to be skiing on the groomed version of that snow. Conditions were excellent along Line-E, where 3 to 5cm of new, light snow topped the moderately soft, groomed powder snow surface.
[Upper Portion of Route 8]

Around 9:00 the Alps 3rd Pair began spinning, and the Grand Prix (pictured), Technical, and Super courses reopened! The Grand Prix Course was groomed, with the area to skiers’ left featuring a reasonably firm powder snow surface. The skiers’ right side had around 10 to 15cm of untouched snow that was drawing cheers from those dropping in. Although the snow cover was still thin in some areas, the poles that had been erected as markers made it easy for skiers to ski without worry.
