Goryu47 REPORT

2023.12.1965cm / Sunny

For today’s report, I decided to focus on something other than the open runs on the Goryu side. On the Toomi Slope (pictured), the artificial snow machines were running at max output on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, taking advantage of the cold weather that returned to the area beginning on the evening of 12/16 (Sat.). Incidentally, the snow machines were still running this morning at around 9:30 a.m. when I came back down to the base of the mountain.

In addition to the lift ticket center, Goryu’s Escal Plaza base center has a full lineup of open hops and facilities serving skiers’ needs including: locker rooms, changing rooms, Goryu Rentals (pictured), Burton Store, souvenir shop, Ryujin-no-yu onsen (hot spring bath), tune-up shop 500 Mile, Natural Food Cafe Sol, Noodle Shop Block, and Lift Up Coffee. (*Restaurant Hull will open on Saturday, 12/23.). By the way, Goryu Rentals offers an online application and pre-payment system for a smoother rental experience.

On the mountain, the Alps360 restaurant is now open daily from 9;00 a.m. (*with meals offered starting at 10:00 a.m.). There I ran into two people from Aichi Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “Tsugaike only has one run open at the moment, so we decided to come to Hakuba Goryu & Hakuba47 today instead. Oh, and this beer is our pre-ski beer (lol).”

As for the five currently open courses Panorama and the upper portion of Route 8 were groomed today, while Grand Prix, Technical, and Super were ungroomed. One of the people I met early this morning told me, “The groomers first thing this morning were really nice!” I have to agree, as I found the packed powder surface on Panorama (pictured) was perfect for setting my edges and linking controlled, comfortable turns.
