Tsugaike REPORT

2023.12.30110cm / Sunny

Even though there has been little snow to end the year, you can still enjoy a 5km-long downhill top-to-bottom run at Tsugaike Kogen Resort! This morning I caught up with a skier from Nagano’s Matsukawa Village (pictured), who told me, “I love your site. The information on it is always accurate and useful.” It was reasonably chilly in the early morning hours, but I didn’t feel the cold once the resort opened.

The Tsuga-no-mori Slope (1st photo) had a well packed wet snow surface that was close in quality to powder snow, while Han-no-ki (pictured) had a firm, groomed wet snow surface. I was greeted by a father from Chiba Prefecture (pictured), who told me he was a fan of Snownavi, and added, “This season, we’ll be staying overnight in our car to welcome the New Year. Last winter I went back and forth to Tsugaike and put more than 20,000km on my car in one season.”

I approached the steep slope in the middle part of the Han-no Ki course with caution since there were some exposed bushes. On the other hand, there were no noticeable bushes or areas of thin snow cover at the bottom of the course (pictured). In other news, NEW YEAR COUNTDOWN TSUGAIKE HANABI fireworks display will be held at the Oya-no-hara Slope at midnight on 1/1 (Mon., holiday)!

I caught up with a family from Nara (pictured) that said, “We are skiing with our cousins and their family for 5 nights at Tsugaike during the New Year’s holidays.” The Kane-no-naru-oka Slope was groomed with a well-packed wet snow surface that was nearly flat and had almost no bushes. The west side of the central parking lot directly in front of the gondola was already full at 7:30 a.m.
