The strong winter pressure pattern over the area brought even more heavy snow to the slopes. Due to a danger of avalanches, the 4th and 5th Pairs of slopes were closed for the day today as they were yesterday, and the 3rd Quad was also out of operation for the whole day today. That meant that today skiing was possible on three slopes: the Warabidaira Slope (pictured), Ipponmatsu Course, and Ikenota Slope.

Even though Warabidaira is Cortina’s lowest elevation slope, its ungroomed area had 35 to 40 cm of fresh snow. I found it easy to float on the new snow, which felt slightly heavy after being pounded by strong winds. The groomed areas had moderately soft powder snow surfaces covered with 10 to 15 cm of light fresh snow.

I spoke with a couple from Osaka (pictured), who told me, “We love your site! We stayed at the Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba last night. Unfortunately we weren’t able to ski the upper part of the resort yesterday or today, but we still enjoyed the powder on the lower slopes!” The Itadiara Course (pictured, background) is currently closed, but it appears to have been groomed last night.

There was about 10 cm of light, fresh snow on the Ipponmatsu Course, which had soft, groomed powder surface. The Ikenota Slope (pictured) had roughly 5 cm of new snow. I had a brief conversation with a woman from Shiga Prefecture (pictured) who said she was a fan of Snownavi. She continued, “There aren’t a lot of open runs today, but the snow quality is great, and I am enjoying the fresh powder!”
