Goryu47 REPORT

2024.03.06265cm / Snowy

The passage of another low pressure system off the south coast brought with it yet more snow, and since the start of March similar conditions have lead to continued accumulations of significant snowfall. National Route 148 and the access roads to the resort luckily weren’t frozen this morning, but slushy snow made them slippery.

The Goryu Telecabin started moving 50 minutes late due to a lengthy safety inspection on the upper portion of ski resort, and as I stepped off, dense, damp snow was coming down hard while the wind was blowing lightly from the northwest. The Panorama Course and Grand Prix Course (pictured) had moderately firm, “powdery” wet snow surfaces that were groomed and topped with 2 to 3 cm of fresh, slightly wet snow. My skis slid well with those conditions.

There was 20 to 25 cm of fluffy new snow in the ungroomed areas along the Alps 3rd Pair (pictured) and on the Technical Course! I overheard people nearby commenting how the amount of snow and quality were better than they expected, and how good it felt. The Dynamic Course and the Woody Course were groomed and topped off with 2 to 3 cm of new snow, and the further I skied down, the wetter the snow became.

The Toomi Slope (first photo), with about 1 to 2 cm of fresh snow, along with the Powder Snow Course, the Soft Cream Course, the Sunnyway Course, and DISCOVERY SPORT (pictured) were each groomed with moist wet snow surfaces. The ungroomed DISCOVERY and DEFENDER courses were crisscrossed with tracks and had 10 to 15 cm of heavy fresh snow.
