Goryu47 REPORT

2024.03.14310cm / Partly Cloudy

On the well-packed, groomed wet snow surfaces of the Soft Cream Course (pictured) and the Powder Snow Course, there was a light dusting of about 3 cm of fresh snow! I was eager to ski first tracks, but tried to contain my excitement, though I did head fast towards Alps Daira. The snow that fell overnight and into the morning had ceased, and the weather improved, with sun shining through the partly cloudy sky.

At Alps Daira, there was a slightly strong wind blowing from the west, which I hadn’t really noticed at the base. There was a uniform layer of light new snow, approximately 5 cm deep, on top of the moderately-packed powder surface of the Grand Prix Course (pictured). It provided a smooth ride for the skis, allowing for a nice balance between the sensation of soft new snow and speed.

The groomed Panorama Course (pictured) and the upper section of Route 8 (fourth photo) offered moderately firm powder snow base conditions with 5 to 8 cm of new stop on top! The Dynamic Course had a well-packed, groomed powder surface with 2 to 3 cm of new snow, while the Woody Course and Toomi Slope were easy to ski with a similar amount of 2 to 3 cm of new snow on firm, groomed wet snow bases.

I ran into a Goryu47 regular who had just skied down from the upper section of Route 8, who remarked, “The new snow is light and feels great.” By the way, starting tomorrow, 3/15 (Fri.), Hakuba Goryu47 will begin its spring skiing discounts. Additionally, this weekend, 3/17 (Sun.), is Ski Children’s Day, where elementary school students can ride the lifts for free. (※Preschoolers and those aged 80 and above are always free.)
