Goryu47 REPORT

2024.03.27305cm / Cloudy

Cold weather returned last night, after the spring-like warm temperatures from 3/24 (Sun.) to 3/26 (Tue.). Thick fog blanketed the upper portion of the ski resort, and rime ice covered the trees. Although the Cosmo Four lift closed on 3/24 (Sun.), Able Hakuba Goryu & Hakuba47 are still “fully open” (i.e., more than 80% of terrain is still skiable)!

I was able to make enjoyable turns on the hard-packed, groomed granular snow surface on the upper portion of Route 1 (pictured), despite my skis scraping across the snow every time I applied my edges. I carefully skied through the first part of the run (pictured) because of the fog, but gradually picked up speed from the middle onward as I passed below the clouds.

The well-packed, groomed granular snow surface on the lower part of Route 8 loosened up more and more as I slid further down. Route 5 (pictured) and Route 6 had moderately firm and easy-to-ski granular snow conditions. I spoke with a couple from Shiga Prefecture, who told me, “We love your site! It seems we just missed running into Snownavi several times this season, so it’s nice to finally meet you! We stayed at Hotel Hakuba last night.”
[Route 5]

The groomed lower part of Route 1 had an uneven wet snow surface at the beginning, a firm, uneven surface in the middle, and moderately firm granular snow at the end (pictured). This weekend is full of events, with the “Hakuba Outdoor Fes 2024” (3/30 & 31), “47Cup & New Model Test Ride” (3/30 & 31), “Lift Ticket Refund Campaign” (3/30), “Goldwin Camp 2024” (3/30 & 31), “Junior Wear Buyback” (3/30 & 31), “UNIQLO WORLD MOGUL CAMP 24” (3/30 – 4/2), and “47 Attakaine” (3/31) taking place.
