The three runs of the Iimori Slope, the Powder Snow, Soft Cream, and Merry Land courses, will be open until 3/31 (Sun.). It was a pleasant, warm and sunny morning with soft sunlight reaching the slopes. The groomed Powder Snow Course (pictured) had a moderately packed granular snow surface that began to loosen up and turn to slush around 9:00 a.m.

I ran into a group of three snowboarders from Osaka and Hakuba who told me they were fans of Snownavi, with the one from Hakuba (pictured, far left) adding, “I snowboard at Goryu 47 every day. Conditions are good today.” The information board at the summit station of the Goryu Telecabin said to be careful on the icy slopes, however, the groomed Grand Prix Course had a hard-packed granular snow surface that my edges gripped well and I found easy to ski.

The Dynamic Course (pictured) had a hard, groomed granular snow base that loosened up as I slid down, turning to a moderately soft granular surface as I entered the Woody Course. The granular snow on the groomed Toomi Slope was in spring slush conditions, but I was able to turn without catching my skis.

I had a conversation with a mother from Tokyo (pictured, left), who remarked, “I love your site! This is my 40th day on the slopes this season thanks to my husband who’s been taking care of things at home. My son will compete in the 51st Able Hakuba Goryu Goldwin Junior Cup tomorrow on the Toomi Slope.” Both the Soft Cream and Merry Land Courses were in good condition with loose, groomed granular snow surfaces.
