Ninja REPORT

2026.01.25120 cm / Snowy

The first riders on the Ninja Lift this morning were a couple visiting from Tokyo (pictured), who told me, “We thought today would be perfect for fresh snow, so we finally made our way to Ninja Snow Highland, which we’ve been curious about for a while. First off, we’re heading to Sasuke, since we heard the gully-like terrain tends to collect fresh snow.” I was just as excited to drop into Sasuke myself for the first time this season and headed in with anticipation.

On west-facing Sasuke, fine snow was blowing in on a cold wind. Around 20 to 30 cm of soft, fluffy new snow had piled up on a gentle base, leaving the surface almost perfectly smooth. Using the terrain to swing back and forth like a pendulum, changing speed as I went, made it twice as fun. A man from Saitama (pictured) called out, “I always read your reports—this is awesome!”

On the ungroomed Alekoko (pictured), the roughly 20 cm of new snow occasionally hid firmer bumps underneath. A skier from Gunma said, “I always read your reports. I helped prune the trees on Sasuke during last year’s brush-cutting event—how was it?” Now it makes sense. Sasuke was easy to ride, fun, and easy to shoot photos on — the perfect trifecta.

A skier who had just come down the ungroomed section of Drago (pictured) told me, “The fresh snow feels great! I’m heading to Rewild next — it’s steeper.” After that, he caught the first ride on the Rewild Lift when it began operating at 9:00 a.m. and scored first tracks on ungroomed Rewild. Here too, I was able to fully enjoy 20 to 30 cm of soft, buoyant new snow.
