Happo-one REPORT

2026.02.23285 cm / Partly Sunny

First thing this morning, I ran into a member of the ski patrol who told me, “It rained last night and the wind was pretty strong, but I’m glad both have stopped.” The final day of the three-day weekend turned out to be a calm day with overcast skies. I met a father from Kagawa Prefecture who said, “I always read your reports. My son is taking his ‘prize test’ ski certification exam, so we’ve been practicing since early this morning,” while his son (pictured) added, “I’m definitely going to pass!”

The area around Usagidaira Terrace and Panorama Course was wrapped in fog, but while riding the Alpen Quad I caught glimpses of blue sky overhead. The Kurobishi Slope (pictured) and Panorama Course were groomed with fine granular snow that was moderately firm. I was able to link turns just as I wanted thanks to the solid edge hold.

Just when it seemed like the skies might clear, fog continued to drift in and out on the Skyline Course (pictured), where the groomed granular surface was moderately firm. At the Kotatsu Café in Kitaone Kogen area, mikan (mandarin orange) flavored popsicles are being handed out free of charge from 2/21 (Sat.) to 2/23 (Mon., holiday), while supplies last. On this final day, there was also an advance tasting of the new white peach flavor.

Rewinding back to earlier in the morning, a spectacular sea of clouds could be seen from the upper section of Usagidaira, and the south-side route at Usagidaira (pictured) had groomed granular snow with a slightly moist surface. On the Kitaone forest road, the moderately firm, groomed granular snow gradually softened the further I descended. The Sakka Wave, Sakka Slope, and Shirakaba Slope all had moderately softened, groomed granular surfaces by late morning.
