We’re resuming our slope reports for Tsugaike Mountain Resort today after a short pause following the accident on 1/30 (Fri.). This morning, the gondola base station was wrapped in fog, but I was above the clouds by the mid-station and was greeted by a sea of clouds every bit as stunning as—if not better than—the view on my last visit on 1/28 (Wed.).

On the Han-no-ki Slope (pictured), the firm, groomed granular snow surface allowed my skis to run fast and smooth. TG PARKS will close on the One Course starting tomorrow, 2/25 (Wed.), for a rebuild ahead of the major “COWDAY SLOPE 2026” event on 2/28 (Sat.) and 3/1 (Sun.). The Sawa Course will also close on 2/26 (Thu.) for reshaping.

The Maruyama Slope was groomed with a moderately firm, granular snow base, but the surface layer had begun to soften. On the sun-exposed Champion Slope (pictured), the groomed granular snow had loosened into a surface of soft spring corn snow. In the ungroomed areas—such as beneath the Champion Quad—firm, rollers had started to form.

The Oya-no-hara Slope (pictured) and the Karamatsu Slope had moderately soft, groomed granular snow, and a fall in those conditions wouldn’t hurt much—making it ideal for beginners and lower-level skiers to practice. Despite it being a weekday after the three-day weekend, visitors arrived to the slopes early, especially international guests and groups of university students. As of 9:30 a.m., the west side of the Central Parking Area was nearly full.
