Even in the spring season, Tsugaike (pictured) still delivers the pure pleasure of drawing big, flowing turns across its wide-open slopes. One of the best ways to take it all in is by lapping the Han-no-ki Slope via the gondola early in the morning. This morning, the clouds that hung around at first gradually broke apart, and the day settled into a calm, sunny morning with a refreshing chill in the air.

The slope running along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair (pictured) was groomed into a firm, moist snow base. From the midsection down through the bottom of the run, the surface transitioned to a firm, groomed granular snow surface. Areas in direct sun had already begun to soften early on, but overall my skis ran fast and it was easy to gain and hold speed.

I ran into a digger from TG PARKS (pictured) whom told me, “Even with the lighter snowpack this season, we’ve kept every park feature in top shape. If you follow Snownavi, come out and ride with us!” Registration opened on 3/9 (Mon.) for the second round of the NORTH ALPS BANKED SLALOM series, “TGK BANKED by Gyunyu Sekken,” which will be held on 4/4 (Sat.) & 4/5 (Sun.).

Today the Maruyama Slope had firm, groomed granular conditions, while the groomed Karamatsu and Oya-no-hara Slopes were covered with moderately softened granular snow. Although the officially reported base depth has dropped to 28 cm, there were still no bushes or thin spots visible on either Karamatsu or Oya-no-hara.
