Strong sunshine pushed temperatures up quickly today. I met two visitors from Kyoto (pictured, center) and Hakuba Village (pictured, right) who told me, “We always follow Snownavi. We’re heading up to Tenguhara. It’s so warm we ditched our jackets and wrapped towels around our heads, haha. And he (pictured, left) is out here in jeans on a snowskate.” That man from Tokyo added, “I’m on a snowskate, so I’m stopping at the Nature Park entrance.”

I spoke with a pair of riders from PRANA PUNKS (pictured) who told me, “We always follow Snownavi. We came to Tsugaike today to ride the park.” The surface along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair was groomed, loose, granular snow, and from the midsection down, it became more broken-up. The section that requires walking before the gondola mid-station has now stretched to about 650 m in length.

Let’s transition and take a look at some base-area facilities. The shop inside Village Tsugaike (pictured, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) sells original T-shirts, hoodies, and other apparel, along with accessories such as sunglasses, gloves, and goggles. A sale is currently running, with goggles, gloves, and select winter apparel discounted 20% through Golden Week.

The Footbath Stage & Lounge next to the gondola base station (pictured) is filled with hot spring water during the winter season. The table seating in the back has been free to use since 3/21 (Tue.) for customers who order from Tsugaike Yokocho. You can grab takeout from Tsugaike Yokocho and relax your tired legs in the footbath while you eat.
