The “Hitotoki Photo Frame” (pictured, foreground) is a new photo spot that opened at Hakuba Hitotoki-no-Mori on 9/19 (Sat.). The oversized frame is large enough for group photos, and a stand positioned in front makes it easy to set up a camera or smartphone for self-timer shots. Although it has only been open for a few days, Silver Week crowds have already made it a popular stop, with visitors lining up for their turn each day.

I met a family from Tokyo (pictured), who told me, “This is our first time at Iwatake, and it’s such a great place! We took photos at HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR, rode the Yoo-Hoo! Swing, and tried the Hitotoki Downhill Experience. We enjoyed all of them.” Nearby, “Scenic Relaxation Yoga” was also being held from 10 a.m. (*Participation is free, and yoga mats are provided at no charge.)

The morning of 9/22 (Tue.) began under cloudy skies, but blue sky started to spread overhead from around 9:30 a.m. As of 11:30 a.m., the new gondola had a wait of around five minutes to board in both directions. Meanwhile, the only remaining openings for the Yoo-Hoo! Swing were after 3 p.m., while lines had formed for both the Mountain Carts and Hakuba Giant Swing.

Earlier in the morning, the deck at HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR (pictured) was still damp from the previous night’s rain, and it was cool enough that a jacket or long-sleeve shirt felt just right. With the sweet smell of freshly baked cookies drifting through the air, the line for the popular photo spot at the center edge of the terrace stretched across the terrace and bridge all the way to the Glacier Deck.
