Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba will be closed from 4/1 (Mon.) to 4/13 (Sat.) and re-open for the summer season on 4/14 (Sun.). (*Reservations are now live for summer.) Incidentally, on 3/31 (Sun.), the large public baths will be open from 5:00 to 10:00 & 13:00 to 17:00, the hotel shop from 8:00 to 16:30, Tea Lounge Lyrical from 11:00 to 15:30, and rentals from 8:00 to 16:15.

It was pouring rain early this morning, but had eased off considerably by around 9:00. The Ikenota Slope had a moderately firm, groomed granular snow surface in good condition. (Skis slide well on groomers on rainy days!) However, visitor turnout was low, and the resort was still nearly empty at 10:30.

The Ipponmatsu Course (pictured) was also groomed with moderately packed, easy-to-ski granular snow. There were times when fog rolled in over the slopes, but it was only temporary, and with the weather improving, I would have liked to have skied here longer if time permitted.

I spoke with a father and his son (pictured) from Aichi Prefecture, who were among the first on the mountain. They told me, “This is our fourth time at Cortina this season. We’re looking forward to better weather this afternoon. This will be our last snowboarding trip this season.” In addition to Ikenota and Ipponmatsu, the Hiedayama Forest, Hiedayama 1, and Itadaira courses opened for skiing after I finished my report, around 10:00.
