Tsugaike REPORT

2025.04.27192 cm / Sunny

This year, Golden Week may stretch up to 11 consecutive days off for some people, and this first weekend, 4/26 (Sat.) and 4/27 (Sun.), kicked off with beautiful weather. In front of Kitchen Tsuganomori, the two-day Mountain Bloom Spring Backcountry Gear Demo Event was taking place (pictured, starting at 9:00 a.m., free participation). Attendees had the chance to try out gear from three brands—FISCHER, DYNAFIT, and CARDIFF—while products from MSR and THERMAREST were also on display.

I spoke with a skier from Azumino City (pictured) who told me, “I always read your reports. I came to Tsugaike today for the gear demo event—I’m about to try out these Fischer skis that caught my eye. I’m also looking forward to grabbing a Burger King lunch later.” In addition, I also caught up with Mr. Maniwa, a representative of LIKES, who shared, “I always follow your updates. CARDIFF SNOWCRAFT’s splitboards will keep the same specs next season, but the graphics will get a fresh update.”

As for the slopes, with the closure of the middle to lower sections of the Han-no-ki Slope on 4/25 (Fri.), it’s now impossible to ski down to the base from the top. The Tsuga-no-mori Slope and the Gotemba Course (pictured) were groomed with nice, soft granular snow this morning. The area along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair also had a soft, groomed granular snow base.

I ran into a group of people from Toyama Prefecture, Itoigawa City, and various other places (pictured) who commented they were fans of Snownavi, and added, “We originally got to know eachother through boarding the gondola at the mid-station, and we decided to meet up and ski together today.” Even before the scheduled 9 a.m. opening, I noticed a number of people entering TGPARKS.
