After several light snowfalls in November, a powerful storm delivered the first heavy snow of the season on 12/4 (Thu.). On the Kurosawa Slope (pictured), which is usually the first area to become skiable each season, almost no brush was visible. When I dug into the more than 30cm of fresh snow at the base of the Central Slope, I found the ground beneath fully frozen solid.
