This morning, I met a father and son from Osaka Prefecture (pictured) who told me, “We’ve seen Snownavi before. We come to Tsugaike to ski about once a year, but this is our first time on the Champion Slope. It’s wide, uncrowded, and really nice.” Although there was no snowfall overnight, the continued cold temperatures kept the snow in the ungroomed areas dry, with a soft, fluffy feel.

Meanwhile, the central section of the Champion Slope and the Oya-no-hara Slope (pictured) were groomed into perfectly set, powdery conditions with just the right amount of firmness. There were no bushes or thin snow spots at all, making for stress-free skiing. By around 9 a.m., the Oya-no-hara Slope began to fill with beginners, lower-level skiers, and families.

I ran into two skiers from Shizuoka Prefecture (pictured) who commented, “We always follow Snownavi! We stayed two nights at a lodge at the base and skied yesterday and today—yesterday was all about the powder, and today the groomed runs are outstanding. We really feel like we came at the perfect time.” Both the Tsuga-no-mori Slope (pictured) and the Han-no-ki Slope were groomed with beautifully set, exceptionally easy-to-ski powder surfaces.

I enjoyed fast, flowing turns on the Tsuga-no-mori Slope, and had fun playing on the natural undulating terrain on the Gotemba Course (pictured), which was groomed with a moderately firm, powdery base. Looking ahead, OAKLEY TG PARKS is scheduled to pre-open on 1/10 (Sat.) on the One and Sawa Courses, which branch off from the Han-no-ki Slope!
