The official snow depth jumped dramatically from the 228 cm reported yesterday morning, to 301 cm today. According to resort staff, a portion of the heavy snowfall that began the day before yesterday hadn’t been reflected in yesterday morning’s figure. They also mentioned in passing, “The final day of the three-day holiday weekend was incredibly busy.”

Snow was falling steadily on the quiet slopes this morning, carried by a light westerly breeze. The Han-no-ki Slope (pictured) was groomed with a moderately firm powder surface, and topped with 2 to 3 cm of soft new snow. I let my skis run freely, and enjoyed the roughly 3 km-long descent from the gondola summit station down to the mid-station. (※Note that there were some firmer patches of snow near the snowmaking equipment toward the bottom.)

By the way, the new lift towers under construction around the midsection of Han-no-ki (pictured) belong to the new six-person lift T3, which is scheduled to begin operation in December 2026. In addition, the One Course’s advanced lane, part of the OAKLEY TG PARKS which branches off to the south from this point, is set to open on 1/15 (Thu.).

The Maruyama Slope had 2 to 3 cm of fresh snow on top of a moderately firm, groomed powder base, while the Shirakaba Slope (pictured) featured a well-set, groomed powder surface. Both were easy to ski and inviting enough to lap on repeat. On the Oya-no-hara Slope, about 2 cm of new snow sat on a well-compacted, moist groomed base, and the area was lively with families and beginners.
