The TG PARKS area on the One Course opened today, 1/15 (Thu.)! When riders were allowed to enter at 9 a.m., they streamed in one after another, with brief lines forming at the start zone. At present, the One Course is set with four kickers from top to bottom: an 8 m kicker, another 8 m kicker, a 14 m kicker, and a 12 m kicker.

I spoke with a park digger who told me, “As part of an upcoming update, we may replace the 8 m kicker in the advanced lane (the One Course) with jib features. That means this is the only time you’ll be able to hit four kickers in a row, so please come give it a try!” The moderately firm, powder-groomed surface made it easy to build speed on approach.

The Gotemba Course (pictured) and the area along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair were groomed into powder conditions with a nicely balanced, slightly soft feel. The central section of Tsuga-no-mori, the mid to lower parts of Han-no-ki, as well as the Maruyama, Shirakaba, Champion, and Oya-no-hara Slopes all featured moderately firm, groomed powder bases. On the upper slopes, a strong westerly wind blew at times, but with warm sunshine breaking through, it was a comfortable and pleasant morning overall.

Because the Tsuga No. 2 Pair was suspended at 10 a.m. yesterday due to strong winds, the ungroomed areas of Tsuga-no-mori (pictured) were left with beautifully untouched snow this morning. In places where the snow surface had been packed by the wind, it was easy to get knocked off balance. “Ski Kids’ Day” is coming up on 1/18 (Sun.), and elementary school students can ski for free with a complimentary one-day lift ticket. A variety of other events are also planned, including free Snow Racer rentals (limited to 10 units), the “Saurus Race & Snowball Fight”, and an anglerfish cutting demonstration.
