Kashimayari REPORT

2026.02.13140 cm / Partly Cloudy

February hasn’t been bitterly cold this year, but has rather featured alternating chilly and mild days. In fact, warmer temperatures are in the forecast through 2/15 (Sun.), when “Ski Kids’ Day” (elementary school lift tickets are free!) will be held. This morning brought calm weather, with the sun appearing and disappearing behind passing clouds.

The groomed Course 5-A (pictured), with a maximum pitch of 28 degrees and an average of 19 degrees, offers a nicely balanced slope angle and a comfortable 950m length. Combined with its north-facing aspect, which preserved the moderately firm powder well today, and lighter skier traffic, it was tempting to lap the 5th Pair again and again. On the ungroomed 5-B and 5-C runs, moderately firm, mid-sized moguls had formed.

I met a snowboarder from Australia (pictured) who told me, “Kashimayari is nice and uncrowded, and the groomers feel great.” The Kurosawa Slope (pictured) and Maruyama Slope also featured moderately firm, well-packed powder today. On the Ippon Buna Downhill Course, the firmly groomed wet snow began to soften slightly toward midday.

At Pokémon Snow Adventure, which opened at 9 a.m., two diggers from Snow Park DSP (pictured) greeted me with the familiar phrase, “We always read your reports!” They added with a laugh, “We came to check things out so we can promote how fun the tubing is. It’s kind of childish—so let’s keep this off the record, please!”
